CODEX: Fact Sheet Update

My friend Linda sent me the following “Heads up” regarding the CODEX and its status in Canada. How it fares in the US remains to be seen but there is hope in that when then President Bill Clinton tried to bring it in in the early 90’s it was defeated by the Gray Panthers – the retirees – who showed Billy C “where the power really was”!

But, for now and in Canada, “We have won”! There will be no $60 price tags on 30-pill bottles of vitamin C at a max 500 iu’s each – at least not in the near future. Nor for other “health food related vitamin and mineral products”.

Here’s what I received over the Internet this morning from Linda:

The Natural Health Products Directorate has heard from many concerned
individuals regarding misinformation on Codex. Because vitamins and minerals
are considered natural health products in Canada, Codex will not apply in this
country. For more information, please go to our Web site for the latest Health
Canada Fact Sheet on Codex:
http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/hpfb-dgpsa/nhpd-dpsn/codex_fact_sheet_e.html

If you have already downloaded one or both of the CODEX articles I have had posted here, please discontinue its use (keep it in your files for reference, however) and update it with this article.

And remember, we must remain eternally vigilant re: CODEX because there is no mention of herbal food supplements above.
